The problem: connecting heating in buildings that are difficult to cover
Most wireless protocols — Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, and even Zigbee in some configurations — have their limits as soon as the building is large, the walls are thick, or the installation is spread over several levels or distinct buildings (NodOn also offers the Zigbee-MQTT Bridge for large-scale Zigbee deployments). Multiplying repeaters, managing multiple local gateways, maintaining a mesh network: the infrastructure becomes a project in itself.
The NodOn TRV-8-1-00 adopts a different approach: LoRaWAN®, the long-range, low-power protocol for professional IoT networks. A single gateway covers an entire building — the thermostatic head communicates directly with the public or private LoRaWAN infrastructure, without repeaters.

Installation: same simplicity, tenfold range
The mechanical installation is identical to any M30×1.5 mm thermostatic head. Connection to the LoRaWAN network is automatic upon power-up — the device is delivered pre-provisioned.

If the area is covered by a public LoRaWAN network, the head connects automatically on startup. Data is sent to your application server via the existing network — no infrastructure to deploy.

Private LoRaWAN network
Dedicated Gateway
For uncovered buildings or private deployments, a LoRaWAN gateway (indoor or outdoor) covers dozens to hundreds of devices. A single gateway is sufficient for an entire building.

Mechanical mounting
Remove the existing thermostatic head. Screw the TRV-8-1-00 onto the M30×1.5 mm valve body (or via adapter). Insert the 2 AA batteries — the head starts, performs automatic calibration, and enters LoRaWAN provisioning mode.

Connection to the LoRaWAN network
The device is delivered pre-provisioned with its OTAA keys. It automatically connects to the available LoRaWAN network (public or private) without any action on your part. AppEUI/DevEUI/AppKey credentials are provided for registration on your network server (TTN, ChirpStack…).

Integration into your management platform
Data (ambient temperature, setpoint, valve status) is transmitted via your LoRaWAN network server to your building management platform (BMS, GTB, or dedicated cloud tool). Send temperature setpoints remotely via LoRaWAN downlink.
