At NodOn, we develop home automation solutions to facilitate automation and comfort management in connected buildings. The latest innovation: our Zigbee Temperature and Humidity Sensor . In this article, we will discover why this accessory is the essential building block of your Smart Spaces ecosystem.
Why a Zigbee temperature and humidity sensor?
Such a sensor allows you to continuously measure the temperature and humidity in your rooms. Thanks to the Zigbee 3.0 protocol, the device easily connects to a compatible gateway or home automation box. You benefit from secure communication, high reliability and low energy consumption.
Key features and benefits
Battery-free and wireless
- The sensor works mainly thanks to its integrated photovoltaic cell. It draws the necessary energy from ambient light – no need to buy or change batteries!
- It remains entirely wireless, which allows you to place it wherever you want (on a wall, door, etc.) without the hassle of cables or complicated maintenance.
Optional battery for dark areas
- Don't have natural light in your basement or garage? Don't panic: a CR2032 battery (not included) can be added to keep the sensor working even in total darkness, for up to 3 years.
Installation in the blink of an eye
- Its compact size (85 × 35 × 15 mm) and its double-sided adhesive allow for quick installation. Do you prefer screws? That's possible too!
- Install… and that’s (almost) it. All you have to do is pair the sensor with your box or gateway Zigbee 3.0, and hey presto, it comes to life in your connected space.
Accessible and efficient
- At NodOn, innovating to make the Smart Home Accessibility is one of our priorities. That’s why we’ve optimized our sensor to deliver real innovation at an affordable price, while maintaining excellent measurement performance.
Examples of using a Zigbee temperature and humidity sensor
Smart heating management: Monitor the temperature and control the heating to maintain a comfortable atmosphere without overconsumption.
Humidity monitoring: Avoid excess humidity, ideal for poorly ventilated or sensitive rooms such as bathrooms, basements or cellars.
Always-on comfort: Receive alerts when the temperature or humidity level is too high in a living or working room, and take the necessary measures in the blink of an eye.
No more sensors that stop working. In buildings, especially in the tertiary sector, it often happens that a sensor whose battery runs out is a sensor that stops working because we don't know where it is. Here is a sensor without any maintenance and whose lifespan is at least the same as that of the building where it is installed.
How to install Zigbee temperature and humidity sensor?
- Prepare the sensor: Remove it from its packaging and place it in a bright place to charge it with solar energy.
- Choose the location: Wall-mounted, on a piece of furniture... You're free, since it doesn't need a wire or battery (except in a space that's usually too dark).
- Secure the device: With the included adhesive or your own screws.
- Pair it with the Zigbee network: Start pairing from your box or gateway Zigbee 3.0. In just a few seconds, you will see the temperature and humidity readings appear in your Smart Home or BMS application or interface.
